Hey, look what I found in the bay! I have been watching for one of these for about 25 years! Here's the eBay pics on 11-5-2020:
Yea I have been looking for one of these for a long time and they seem to be very rare. In all that time I have only seen a few and I think there is only 5 of these on Vintagemachinery.org. This one is in pretty good condition, no cracked castings, and comes with one piloted cutter. The crank and handwheel are fused by "patina", everything else is free moving. Here are the arrival pics;
It is a little surreal that we have one of these in the shop now. We don't need one of these because we have other ways of sharpening mortise chisels and all of ours are in pretty good shape now. Anyway, it's cool and I like it very much. I am up to my eyeballs with restoration projects now but this one is definitely going in the queue.
Thanks for looking! Enjoy your projects!
